Inviting global fans into the world of the Witcher.

The Witcher: Season 2 global premiere.

NETFLIX

For the 2021 premiere of season 2 of Netflix’s globally successful The Witcher franchise, Heart was asked to bring the shows fantasy world to life on the red carpet at London’s Leicester Square.

Netflix wanted to live stream the premiere and provide an interactive digital experience for fans around the world. The client challenged Heart to produce a premiere that pushed the boundaries - a global fan and cast interaction at a level not seen before.

The Brief.

Working closely with Netflix and partners, Heart developed various solutions that allowed for in-person and remote digital interaction. The producers and stars of the show were keen for The Witcher’s global fans (whether restricted by COVID regulations or simply location) to feel as though they were as part of the red-carpet experience as the fans who were present.

Heart achieved this by building several fan screen totems along the red carpet, allowing fans to not only view the action from a front seat on the red carpet but to have their faces on screen waving to cast as they headed up the carpet. Fans were also able to view the proceedings and interact with the stars and host via the CCTV stage screen, where the premiere was live streamed to the world via YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

Along with these digital enhancements, Heart created an immersive carpet, transporting attendees into the world of The Witcher.

The main stage at the top of the carpet was designed to take inspiration from a set from episode 1 of the show, overlooked by a 7m x 8m screen that was used to display content throughout the evening, including fans around the world who were able to ask the cast questions in real time.

The Solution.
